I'm looking for universities within the german speaking world since I'm proficient in it. I'm about to finish my undergraduate studies and I want to take on the next step. I'm very interested on academic(researching) issues so that would be definitely a breaking point. I've some prior options such as Mannheim, München, Bonn, ETHZ, University of Zürich and maybe University of Vienna.

When you say 'prior options', what does it mean?

Various rankings (Handelsblatt, RePec, Tilburg, THES) suggest:
Germany: Bonn, Mannheim, LMU Munich, Frankfurt, maybe Koeln and Konstanz
Switzerland: Uni Zurich, ETH Zurich for Quant Econ, St Gallen
    Austria: WU Wien, Uni Wien

Incidentally, these unis also have strong Econ PhD programmes with affiliated research institutes (ZEW, ifo, Game Theory labs, Max Planck institutes) and funding
