Please help, I want to apply to Cambridge for Chemical Engineering (Natsci route) which has a requirement of A* A* A

My predicted grades are A* A A - one less A* than required.
My actual AS grades (for the subjects predicted A) are boundary between A and A*

Is it still worth applying or would it be automatically rejected?

Definitely apply - it's only a prediction and a lot of schools/teachers are unwilling to predict A* grades, which universities know. They're not going to reject you for that prediction, unless it's coming from having not so good AS grades (if you have them) and so the prediction seems unrealistic.

If you apply and get rejected, you're just in the same position as if you didn't apply. If you really want to go, there's no harm in going along with the process to see what happens.

You will have the NSAA (test) to strengthen your application.

But it would be best if you could get your prediction in line with the typical requirement.
