Returning without a receipt in w h smiths?

My mum bought me a magazine from w h smith which I had already got this month but she waited 'til today to give it to me and she's already thrown away the receipt..it's brand new and in as bought condition but is there any hope without the receipt?

I very much doubt it... It could've been bought from anywhere, from their point of view.

They'll probably say no, and in the rare case that they do refund you, you'll probably get lumped with WHSmith credit.
