I haven't had much luck with making friends in first year. I know a lot of people but I wouldn't call any of them my friends. So I was wondering would it be weird if I were to go to fresher's week events and parties on my own, considering I know people but I don't actually have any close friends myself? Plus the safety side of getting back.

YESSSS!!! Trust me you are not the only one! I too am having a "Freshers Week Yr1+1" my housemates were horrid and often came across unaccepting/unwelcoming people. The only thing is its hard to get to know others at parties/clubs. Quieter environments seem to work best but its down to the individual!

    I hate this advice...why don't you join a society/sport's club?
As all their socials people didn't meet all as solo...roommates as such and they stick together...obviously.

but find yourself in a situation where you can meet people where you have something in common or randomly chat to someone who looks friendly/smiley.

HAVE A GREAT SECOND FRESHERS. HOPE IT MAKES UP FOR THE FIRST ONE!

    Hello ,

It wouldn't be weird at all. Go to your second Freshers and enjoy it! Make up for what you feel you didn't do the first time around, make friends and memories and have a really good time. It doesn't matter if you turn up alone - people do but they make friends once they are there!

    Have a great time!

Thanks guys, this made me feel so much better . I have joined societies in the past and they have been friendly but I just didn't get a "click" with them. hopefully the fact that I'm more used to uni will help too
