I try to avoid dust/dust2...people play them so much that they're far superior at the two maps than I am, so I'm just setting myself up to be cannon fodder if I join one of those maps :frown:

Yeah, i agree. Of all the shooters ive been good at, i never got that good at CSS. Ive never really got into the get shot and your out rule, i prefer deathmatches on like battlefield/medal of honour/unreal tournament. I dont understand why CSS is so popular compared to them, though CSS is a good game.

I don't mind dust2.. it's a good map. But I really don't understand why dust is so popular. It's a really boring map. 99% of the time you just get two bottlenecks where the Ts and the CTs just stand around taking pot shots at each other until enough of one side have been killed for the other to break through.

On the rare occasion you have adventurous T's who try to plant the bomb, the round is over before it's even really started because everyone just runs into each other.

I don't know... maybe it's better at a higher standard.

is it just me, or are the krieg and scout by far the best weapons? I can see the appeal of the M4 and AK, theyre obviously great weapons, but the scout and krieg win the day for me.

Nah, I'm not a fan of the Scout ;no; If you miss with a sniper rifle, you're a sitting duck

I think it's just you. I never really use the krieg because it's banned on most servers I use (so maybe it is unfairly good). However, when I see someone using a scout and I have an M4... I usually rub my hands with glee (not literally, of course). So long as it isn't a certain area like the long tunnel in cs_italy, I generally fancy my chances against a scouter.

I guess also with the scout you have the problem that in close combat it's sort of useless unless you're brilliant at getting headshots. If you fail to kill with your first shot in close quarters in all probability you're buggered...

Ditto, I'm quite good at CS, but I'm not brilliant. My performance on that game is really up and down and because I don't play it as much as some other people, and it really does make a big difference. I can keep a steady K/D ratio of around 1.7 or higher no problem, but keeping at 2.0 consistently can be a pain.

That, compared to other games where I'll consistently come top of a server and easily keep a steady K/D ratio of well over 2 once I've gotten used to it.

Yeah, I think you really need to stay in CS to keep on top, its more specialist. I can come back to BF2142 or whatever after a while and pretty safely bet ill be back in form after a few games.

Liking the Kreig must show how much of a noob I like being. I think the M4 is slightly better than the AK, I also like the MP5.

On the scout, if you couple it with a Deagle then you're reasonably alright. The point is though to avoid close quarters and stick with your chumlies. Its particularly useful on that map where a lot of it is underground, it’s like a bunker (it was the first map they introduced dynamic range on). I’ve always liked snipers though because back in the Medal Of Honour/Call of Duty days all I ever played with was the Springfield and most of the weapons on WW2 shooters are bolt action. I reckon playing those all the time in my gaming 'formative' years have left me pre disposed to bolt action rifles.

Does anyone else have that inexplicable wrist twitch when someone enters your sight that makes you nail them? My wrist always goes crazy when a dude runs across my sight and I just smack the left mouse button in a twitch-like manner but I usually nail them! It’s bizarre, but awesome, like my wrist is heat seeking.

I can’t survive with the scout on like dust or whatever though, it’s usually too close quarters unless you want to seriously camp and the people on there, as Dali pointed out, are all mustard.

I’m no good with the AWP for some reason, nor would I want to be by the looks of the abuse they get. I enjoy spray and prey on e.g. BF, but close quarters on CSS is just too hardcore, I’m not good enough really to consistently win fire fights.

I love CSS!

The AK is a touch more powerful than the M4 but the mental recoil means unless you know how to hit things it just isn't worth it (even at close range you have to aim pretty low to avoid spraying over peoples heads). The Krieg is what I prefer as a T as it is easier to aim with or without the sight, it isn't as much of a "noob gun" as the most expensive rifles (the auto-snipers).

The problem with my hand is how unsteady it gets when the pressure is on! Makes it very difficult when I'm last one standing as aim just goes to pot.

At the moment I still prefer Dust2 to a lot of other maps simply because I know it best, on other ones I find myself hiding somewhere really daft because I don't know any better.

Thats sort of what im getting at, but my hand twitch usually works in my favour, its crazy.

Heh you have a lucky hand! P90 is a good one for Office, can clear corridors in seconds.

Anyone tried the Steam Communities thing yet? You can get it in Settings then click "Change..." under Beta Participation. Looks like it will be quite good once all the features are enabled.

There's 2 Kreigs:
Kreig 552 is the Automatic Rifle with the small zoom.
Kreig 550 Commando is the auto sniper.

I like playing de_dust2 great balanced map, but dust is just annoying. If the T's are better then they'll rush A and sucessfully defend the bomb each time. If the CT's are better, they'll manage to push through one of the choke points and get behind the T's. If the skill is similar, then it's just picking off people at chokepoints.

I love the Scout/Deagle combo. I'm a pretty decent player with both weapons. I get called a camper a lot for it, even though I'm running around the map, I only stay still for around a max of 30 seconds, unless I know people will be combing from somewhere.

I prefer the Scout to the auto sniper however; you run too slow with them and firing fairly quickly reduces the accuracy by a lot.

i totally agree with Consie about the need to keep playing to keep your form in cs. i mostly play bf2 and bf2142 now but when i do go and give cs a bash it takes ages to get back into it which is a shame cause it puts you off.

oh, and the ak is a better buy than the kreig

That's debatable. Certainly, the amount of kills I get with the 552 compared to the amount I get with the AK would persuade me to pick the 552 more often than not...but I like big open maps, where I can actually make use of the scope. A 552 in something like office is a waste of money.
