    Hi,
I'm not going to best friends with my flat mates. They are all very much about the party, wheras I just want a board game with custard creams and an early night. This means that I know no one who's going here and my anxiety isn't going to allow to randomly start talking to someone who is sitting alone on campus. I fear I'm going to be wandering around alone campus or stuck in my bedroom because I literally have no friends.

How do I meet people in a way that I am comfortable with?

Is anyone else feeling like this (so I can stick to you like glue in a non-creepy way)?

    Thanks X

hey I'm feeling a bit like this as well, went out last night but I don't wanna do it again, partying isn't my thing. I see everyone around here and they all have their groups already....hopefully we'll meet some nice people on our course

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I'm sure we will both meet some nice people . What course are you doing if I may ask?

You need to talk to my daughter, feel that she'll turn her room into a bat cave surrounded by her books and only come out when she has to.
She's in Lewes Court, have suggested things for her to do but her shyness is palpable
Doesn't initially get on with people face to face due to this

If you like Marvel & DC and distopian stuff (Hunger games etc) then so much the better

I'm just an over protective dad.

She's studying theoretical physics, happy to pass details on via PM for her twitter or TSR info.
Even if its mooching into Brighton for an afternoon so there's an easy get out when you realise she's a psycho :ahee:

I think a lot of the large groups aren't as close as it may look from the outside and many feel nervous/shy as anyone else, I've been walking around campus on my own and once in a large group but that was more by accident than anything else aha. It's so early on I think many of us are feeling similar but don't be daunted by large groups, though I know it's easier to say than take the advice because I've felt the same already. I guess I'm not making much sense but there's so much time to make friends. Also OP maybe try the geek night on Thursday

I'm also terrible at making friends. I found it daunting too. I spend most of my time hoping someone will start a conversation with me- because I can't do it myself.

    What course are you doing?

Maybe try the Room76 night tonight, tricky to go out of your comfort zone but if you make a Muppet out of yourself there are plenty of other freshers to find.

My daughter has gone quiet on me *overbearing dad gif*
