Hi, so for about the last year/2 years I've wanted to do PPE at uni.
I was about to send my application this week but before I was able to, my form teacher said he had 'serious concerns' about the strength of my application due to my AS grades.

This has severely knocked my confidence as not only has he discouraged applying to Oxford but also for PPE as it is highly oversubscribed. Bear in mind I was planning to apply for this for the best part of last year, I find it highly unreasonable and unsupportive to suggest that I change my course basically at the last minute.

So what I am asking is if anyone can give me some impartial advice on how realistic my choices are, as the impression I am getting from other people in my year is that teachers are dissuade students from applying to Oxbridge, since something like 50-60 people are making applications.

For reference my predicted grades are: A*AA (English, Maths and Economics respectively)
AS grades are: ABBB (English, Maths, Economics and Chemistry respectively)
    GCSE grades are: 9A*s 1A

In addition to Oxford I was thinking of applying to Warwick, Bristol (PhilPol), Nottingham, Manchester

    Thanks in advance

You GCSEs are excellent and Oxford tends not to care too much about AS grades. I would have said you had an ok chance.

I think PPE requires the TSA and if you can smash that, AS grades and even GCSEs don't mean crap.
Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
