I wonder what is Manufacturing Engineering... Wiki didn't provide a clear enough explanation. Can someone explain what are the roles and disciplines of a Manufacturing Engineer? The idea of manufacturing sounds something similar to Chemical Engineering (turning raw materials to consumer products) to me, is it true?

This really is something you can research yourself. Wiki is a good place to start but there are plenty of other resources out there including uni job and career websites.

It's basically about how to manufacture the products and equipment designed by other engineers in an efficient and safe way. I wouldn't say it's like chemical engineering that is turning raw materials into useful products.

It's hard to describe to people without a background at an actual manufacturing company. Like, it's easy to see that companies would have engineers designing the widgets that the company sells, and technicians/assembly workers physically making them on the shop floor/assembly line/etc., but it's not obvious what an actual manufacturing engineer does if they're neither designing the widgets nor physically assembling them themselves. I don't really know much about it myself.

Looking at job descriptions might provide some good info too.
