Hey! I'm currently studying outside the UK, in a rather well-established Asian university. I'm in my 2nd year at the moment (it is a 4 year course) and I've gotten my results back for the previous academic year. I've an A-average and was on the Dean's List. I'm hoping to transfer to UCL in Sept 2017 as a 2nd Year student, and i'll be applying through UCAS. Am thinking of emailing the Head of Department to express my interest in transferring -- does anyone have an idea of what are the odds of me getting in / what I should include in my email to the Head of Dept? Thanks so much guys!

I have a vague suspicion that you are from where I'm from, so firstly, hi.
Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is to reapply from the first year using UCAS. UCL doesn't do transfers as far as I know. If you state which degree you are currently doing, it will better to advise you. If you would like to apply, you apply to start from first year.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend starting over from first year since you will be halfway through your degree in 2017. Are there any particular reasons why you want to go to UCL?
Nonetheless, you can always try emailing the head of department to see if they might make an exception. However, it would be extremely unlikely no matter how good your first year grades are.

I think they don't do transfers.. I asked them about this too (about a well respected German university) and they said immediately that transfers aren't possible (I actually didn't want to transfer, I will apply for first year)

Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
