I did my German GCSE in year 10 and i got my results back 3 weeks ago. Because I am from Germany it was really easy to get an A*. However, now I am in year 11 and i am really fed up with drama. I don't think that I can even get a C and I am not motivated to continue with Drama. That's why i want to drop it, I have already my German GCSE so I see no point in stressing me. I thought that German can replace Drama. I even talked with my Drama teacher about it and she said it would be fine. However, I asked my head of year about it and he was totally against it. He was saying that I have to stick with it. He is blocking everything. Is there really no way to drop Drama?

Talk to some of the senior staff - assistant headteacher or someone like that. Or the heads of the departments. They should be able to tell you whether or not you can replace Drama with German

On the whole schools are reluctant to allow students to drop subjects as they would have to explain their decision and give very good reasons if they were inspected by Ofsted. In addition it can cause timetabling issues - you would have gaps in your timetable in which they would need to prove you were still learning. You could try to talk to your Headteacher or someone more senior if you're adamant and it's genuinely causing you stress but chances are they'll just tell you to stick with.
