Go with the flow and hope for the best or change the strategy?

EDIT: I've just realised there's a typo in the question - sorry for that

If its something unfixable then I learn from it.

I will panic for a few minutes then try and think of a solution...
I normally tell someone as for some reason it calms me if someone else knows (especially if it's something embarrassing as you will laugh about it later)

If it is something unfixable then I'll just think of excuses and try to justify my actions!

What I normally do in this situation and what I would recommend you to do, is to make a thread asking other people on the internet so you can get their advice. Oh wait hang on a minute....

I have a tendency to remember said mistake when I'm trying to get to sleep 7 years later.

    Hope this helps!

depends what the thing is and whether you can change it

I generally think it's best to try and face mistakes head on, either you can go back and change it or you can work out how to make the most of the situation now

Is this a general question or have you made a terrible mistake about something? If you have, can you tell us what it is?
