well what tdo ppl say 'new' with

    the 'new' shoes
    the 'new' car
    etc

    its treating girls like objects

edit:realised objects is a bit far....but the implication of something that comes and goes is there so its somewhat accurate

"The new girlfriend" implies she either wasn't there before, or someone else was. You can use the same style to talk about someone being new to anything that has a title. The new postman, the new teacher, the new manager. I don't understand how you can say that it treats them as objects.

The problem arises shipreck that the new postman, the new teacher, the new manager were not in a romantic relationship with you. No feelings were invested anywhere, the postman delivers, the manager manages and the teacher teaches. The lovers....love.
