Friend gone all odd

Bad title I know, but I couldn't think of anything else.
So here's the story... There is a boy in my year who used to be a really good friend. I'd fancied him for ages and then we started talking more and although he was going out with another of my friends I was pretty happy with the situation. He would be really nice and chat a lot, and I thought that we got on really well. Then one day (around September last year) he was totally different and basically ignored me. This carried on and only recently have we started talking at all again. He broke up with the other girl a couple of months after the sudden personality change, but he still barely noticed me and only spoke to him if I asked him a question.
Does anyone know why this could have happened? I know it's a little late to ask but I'm still very curious because he's never been the same since, and it was pretty much overnight. And if any of you were wondering, I still like him a bit but not nearly as much as I used to. I'd just like to be friends again and to find out why he suddenly chose to ignore me and stay the same around everyone else.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't think so. Might try reassuring him that I haven't got any scary diseases and see what happens.

surely bird flu would have beeen more believable.

i think it come down to a brake down in communications between you two.

you have to use your influence on the situation in what way you can.

the rest is down to him.

if you do get to speak to him i wudn't throw that one in the air.

questioning a mans sexuality (esprcially coming from a women) is a big turn off.

just a tip.
