I have spoken to my son's college and his school and neither will let him re-sit his Maths GCSE. He got an E.

I understand that it is now compulsory for under 18's to resit their maths/English exams if they did not achieve at least a C.

The college are saying that as he got an E, he cannot resit the exam as they do not expect him to be able to achieve a higher grade.

I feel like he has been written off and I know that if he had revised (by his own admission) he would have gotten a D at least.

Where do I go now? I was under the impression that as he was in full time education and under the age of 18 that they any resit would be provided for him on request (given the reasons).

Hmm...What is he currently studying? You are right that the law now states that it is compulsory for under 18's to resit their maths/English exams if they did not achieve at least a C. It would seem the school and college are breaking the law.
