You don't have to wait for the Clearing Passport to arrive in the post, as it may take a few days. However, you do need to be absolutely sure that your firm and insurance unis will not take you with your lower grades.

I would advise contacting your firm and insurance choices just to make sure they will not take you. I think it is worth a try, even if it says that you have been unsuccessful on UCAS Track..

Good luck with your results. I'm awaiting my A-level gradws too

If you don't get the grades for your firm or insurance, and you've checked both on UCAS Track and by phoning the unis that they won't take you, I think you can start phoning the unis that have Clearing vacancies before your Clearing Passport arrives to apply informally, but you then need to send them the Clearing Passport as soon as you get it to make it official. I'm not 100% sure on that though, so check the Clearing thread in here or the UCAS website, or hopefully someone else can give a definite answer.
