I was just told that I was ineligible for a PGL because even though my course begins on the 7th of October only, you have to be living in the UK (I'm British but live abroad) on the first of September, which they count as the beginning of the academic year.
This is so opaque in their eligibility criteria, it says you have to be "living in England on the first day of the first year of your course", but I of course took this to mean the start date of my course, not a randomly selected date which is listed nowhere else. The rule seems to make no sense!
I'm lucky to have funding for my fees and some support from home, so it would have been a question of an extra 3-4k to help with my living costs, but I'm wondering if anyone else has come up against this? I'm furious, it just seems to make little sense and is so unclear in the eligibility criteria. The woman I spoke to on the phone was also very snide about my "not having read" the latter, I was just too shocked to answer back.
Anyone have any ideas where one could borrow on such short notice?

who told you that??
And how will they know that you were not a uk resident on the 1st of september, as you only need to send them a declaration form and you passport to get funded??
