Okay so since recieving my accommodation I've been dreading today as I've read bad reviews... I almost cancelled my uni place altogether and had a gap year but I've tried to be rational here... But I'm starting to worry now... If I get to my acccommodation today and reqlly don't like it, what is the likelihood they'll let me cancel? I know therr are still lots of people waiting on uni rooms because they emailed the other day for people wanting to leave to let them know. It's just my move in slot is 8-10 and the accommodation office opens at 10... Freaking out at this point because I don't want to be stuck somewhwre I'm gonna hate but I won't know until I get there

Don't panic! Wait a bit longer than "first impressions" of the place too. Hardly any student accommodation is luxurious and it will be your flatmates, your enjoyment of the course etc that will make the difference. Give it some time so you can settle in properly and begin to feel more at home.

If there are lots of people waiting for accommodation then the office should be able to help you to swap or find a replacement tenant if it does become necessary.

Good luck and try to relax

chill out... student accommodation is generally **** and people deal with it and get through the year fine, if you're not willing to pay a lot then you usually get something a bit rubbish, it doesn't do you any harm at all - it's a room, with a bed and a toilet, you don't have to love it it just has to function
