Penalties to double

Mobile phone users face harsher penalties. BUT.........

The Department for Transport said it expected the changes to take effect in the first half of 2017.

Good. The amount of mobile phone users I see on a daily basis with a device glued to the palm of their hand is ridiculous. It's got way out of hand with Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp and the like all requiring instance responses every second of the day. When you had a phone glued to your ear, at least your eyes were on the road. With a phone on a dash mount of in your hand, your eyes are on the phone - not the road. It makes it more dangerous for everyone around you.

If it were me, I'd induce much steeper penalties.

    Good but not enough

Should be 6 Points, £1000 fine and banned from driving for 3 years, and you'll have to redo the theory test and an extended practical test as well.

If you do it again you should have your licence (and any other motoring licence) revoked for life along with a £5000 fine and a 6 month jail

Don't want that to happen. Don't use your phone at the wheel. Simples.
