Couldn't find a separate thread for this so thought I'd start one. I've been invited to do the Business Insight Test 1 - no clue what to expect or how to prepare.

    Anyone in the same position?

    sorry, i do apologise.

a quick google search yielded the following results:

for future reference, as a rule of thumb always have google (not yahoo or bing pls) as a first port of call.

This is our first proper introduction to your skills, but simultaneously you will be immersed into a realistic but fictitious businessscenario. This will give you a real insight into the work you’ll do at Barclays, helping you understand our industry and how you can add value.

During the film, we’ll ask you some questions to find out if you’ve got some of the strengths and abilities we need. It is not a timed activity but shouldn’t take you more than 35 minutes. You’ll hear back from us shortly with a constructive strengths-based feedback report. Before you begin the assessment process, we recommend that you familiarise yourself with the types of questions you may be presented with as part of the process. Please click through to http://practice.cappassessments.com/ if you wish to do this.

No worries. I'm just really worried with what Barclays has done to their recruitment process this time around!
I got that part - just not sure what exactly they will ask. I tried the practice tests they linked but those tests don't even show the right answer at the end of it so you have no idea whether you did the right stuff or not!!
    So frustrating. :mad::mad:

barclays are noticeably big (huge emphasis) on their values. would research into that and ensure you're providing answers that are in line with those.

By the way the 35 minutes thing is very misleading. You should allow about 90 minutes for it.

Yes - you definitely cannot prepare for it. My advice would just be to go for it but make sure you are able to concentrate fully and are awake. The test is very long and will tire you out.

It is a specialist bespoke test specifically designed for Barclays. There is no time limit but it seems to take most people just under 90 minutes.

It is basically a combined situational judgement test, numerical and verbal test on steroids. Numerical questions make up the majority of the test.

There will be a video giving an example of a real situation at Barclays, following this Zoe character.

Then there is one or two situational judgement questions around the video.

Then you are given five big pieces of data relating to the video, and given a series of numerical questions relating to this data. Some of these numerical questions will require you to use multiple sources of data so read the question carefully and make inferences / links. This question process then repeats for different videos / scenarios.

There is one verbal type question right at the end of the test which is very basic and relates to everything you have done up until that point.

I'm not sure what they are looking for from it because a lot of people have been put on hold. Not sure if they're going to reject or what is going on.

This helps a lot. Thank you so so so much!!
I got my invite yesterday & still haven't attempted it as I wasn't sure what to expect. In terms of numerical questions, are they basic math or would I have to really know formulas etc?

Also, do you think not attempting it right away is putting me at risk of rejection...?

    No to your second question.

It's a similar style of question to what you'd get in a normal numerical test, just involves you to make inferences/links across all the data they give you from time to time. And obviously you need to work out what data you need to reach an answer. They give you a lot of data.

And the questions/data are more related to a banking context. They'll be no questions about banking, but the numerical questions will be based around data relating to banking.

I was invited to the online interview a week ago, however I have only tried to complete it today. As far as I am aware, there was no given deadline. Yet, when i logged in to access the interview I got a message telling me that the period of time allowed to access this part has expired.

I'm quite gutted about that, as I spent all that time preparing for this interview.

That's unfortunate. I believe you get 5 working days, not a week.

The invitation to the business insight assessment stated 5 working days. However, the online interview invitation email did not specify a deadline.

I completed the business insight assessment few days back and I just received a feedback report regarding my assessment. No news yet as to whether I have successfully passed the test.

Is there for any bank? At least Barclays have moved people through the process pretty swiftly, compared to banks such as JPM who seem to have done nothing so far.
