Hey there, I am currently doing the coursework for Computer Science AQA, and have decided to do a altered version of Chess for my project.

I am in the process of writing the analysis phase, and it all makes sense to me except I cannot get my head around DFD's and how to do them?

How do I do level 0 and level 1 DFD's for both the current and old system?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By DFD do you mean Data Flow Diagram? I can't speak for your coursework, but from industry and the use of UML (which contains no less than 14 different types of diagram), not all diagrams are appropriate for all problem domains. So to me, the idea of a data flow diagram in an analytical (chess) system that is only looking at the data in front of it makes no sense at all. In other words, only generate design diagrams that are relevant to the problem you are working. It would seem a flow or state diagram is more relevant to the design of a chess game.

    Good luck!

PS The only caveat is if the marking scheme requires one. In which case, you are partially screwed.
