Eating fruit late at night-bad for you?

I was just wondering if anyone knows if this is the case. 3 times in the past 2 weeks I've woke up needing to vomit and also having diarrhoea, it's usually lasted between 12-24 hours. The night before this has happened each time, I eat fruit and it seems to be the common factor in each case, so I need to know is it the fruit causing it or is it a co-incidence. Up until this last 2 weeks I would say I havent been sick for about 2 years.
Have you been eating a lot of soft fruit, like cherries, peaches, apricots etc?

A whole mix really, the fruit I've been eating is from marks + spencers fruit mix pack which has all sorts like grapes, strawberries, oranges, melons and a few more.
I think it's probably just that you've been eating too much soft fruit, rather than the time that you're eating it as such.

I thought fruit was meant to be healthy...
It is, but too much of a good thing and all that
Moderation and all that jazz >_>

Too much fruit can lead to laxative effects, and fruit is quite acidic so it could irritate the stomach lining. Just be careful and eat moderately. If you want to be healthy get some of your 5 a day from vegetables as well

Just sounds like you have been cosuming a huuuuge amount, try eating a little less or spread it out through the day.
Is any of this fruit new to your system? Something you've discovered recently and eat alot of? Might be something that just doesn't agree with your stomach.
Check the best before date on the pakaging too

I haven't been eating huge amounts though thats the thing, just a small portion before bed, it's not like I've been eating all 5 portions of fruit in one go or anything.
In addition to making you fat due to insulin spikes, Fruits are high on simple sugars. Bacteria love sugar. So yes, It's bad for you in a way.

Try eating it in the morning or at lunch time, and see if it has the same effects. You could also maybe be allergic to some of it, or perhaps your stomach has a grudge against M&S..?
never happened to me before but everything can be bad for you if it is too much including oxygen

Thanks for all the advice. I'll just stick to small amounts of fruit during the day, I really can't cope being sick like this again...

As aeiou81 was hinting at, maybe it's not fruit in general, but this particular batch of fruit, that doesn't agree with you? I find I'm quite responsive to what I eat (meaning that if I go a day or so without anything green, I can feel it), and I've never experienced these side-effects from eating fruit before bed. But as has been said, it was eaten in moderation.
