I hate it when

People say "so and so was bitching about you the other day"
Why do we need to know this?
We wouldn't have known or cared otherwise
Unless it's very important I'd rather people just shut up rather than try and stir everything up, in my opinion those people are just as bad as the people being mean in the first place

If someone came up to me with the sole purpose of telling me that So-and-So was "bitching" about me, I'd be unsure who to pity more, the person I've made such an impact on that they spend their free time debating my existence, or the person I've failed to impact on, to the point that they think I might actually care.

i tell people whats been said if i think its in there best interest to know.
like if someones bein strung along or the other person is constantly disrespecting them behind there back. baring in mind i would do this reassuring them that i'm there for them.

somethings are not worth mentioning though, its just finding the balence.

I agree, though generally "bitching" doesn't fall into this category. If I overhear someone plotting to murder a person's entire family, I might be persuaded to let them know.

Sometimes people do it because they genuinely care for you though, and think you want to know. I know what you mean though, and I think the absolute worst is: "So and so said *insert x really nasty thing here* but you can't tell him/her you know, because then they'll realise I told you!"

What's even worse than that is when they've been bitching about you too, but to save their own skin they try to act that the other person was at fault and try to play the "hero" by telling you.

Yes, the guy that told me likes me so he's always trying to get in my good books
Unfortunately he has NO idea and telling me everyone who's mean about me and being mean about people I like just doesn't work!
