Appendicitis?

Got up and was hit with a sharp pain on my lower right abdomen and lower back. The pain also extended to my right rib. Pain was really harsh when I made sudden movement, however I found it hard to stay still. Felt as though I was going to throw up. The pain was only on my right side.

The pained calmed down however it's still there. Got on the phone to my friend who had appendicitis and had similar symptoms. I am now going to A&E after concluding that it may be appendicitis.

    Any other possibilities?

It could be a whole number of things. Depending on where it is exactly, it could be something to do with your kidney. My mum had similar symptoms with kidney stones, and myself with a bad infection. The doctor there will be able to figure out what's going on better than we can, sorry

Other possibilities could be a kidney infection or kidney stone but appendicitis would be my first thought too. You are doing the right thing going to A&E. Hope whatever it is passes quickly and you recover soon

Various possibilities including kidney infection, kidney stones and IBS. When appendicitis is a possibility though it's always best to get it checked sooner rather than later as a burst apendix can be a lifethreatening issue. You deffinately made the right choice there.
Hope all went well (assuming you've been to A&E by now) and it's not anything serious.
