Okay so I did a year of one degree... I hated it but couldn't transfer so going to take a year out to restart my degree in 2017. I have already received my money from student finance for this term but need to give it back to make sure I can get my full three years from 2017.

However, my friend took a year out and apparently lost a year's worth of funding because of it? And I've already taken a year of funding so need the full three years funding to complete the degree. Anyone know what happens with this? I'm very confused and worried...

    Thanks in advance!!

You don't lose a year of funding because of a gap year. The only way this would happen is if your friend was still registered as being at uni, or if they received funding they weren't entitled to but didn't give it back.
