Macbook battery problem (please help)

    Hi guys, i have a really old macbook (one of the heavy ones :/ ) And my charger broke so i got a new one online but its not registering the battery so i can only use my laptop if its plugged in and as soon as the charger comes out the macbook turns off.

    I just looked at the battery and took it out and its EXPANDING ?!?!?! what the hell is happening to it?

    hi what year was your macbook released? 2010, 2011?

    I took the battery out im just using my laptop plugged in with no battery at the moment

    It has a serial code on the bottom, type it into the "Enter your hardware serial number" field on this page https://checkcoverage.apple.com/gb/e...bL!-1845586146

    That'll tell us the year.

    Bloody hell it came up at OBS MacBook (13-inch Early 2008)

    That is going to make things difficult, OEM replacement batteries for that generation have all but disappeared, and the only Aftermarket that is safe to use is only obtainable in the states, where even there it's ridiculously priced.

    Best option would be to take it to an apple store and get them to deal with it, and hope that they've got a replacement. If they have, you'll still be looking at between £100-150 for it, which is almost as much as an early 2008 is worth now.

    Damn it, thanks. I'll probably just get a new laptop bc I'm in need of one anyway.
