1st year student: do we choose our own modules?

in first year do I have to choose some of my own modules, or do you only do that in second and third year?

I go to Manchester university btw
for I think all law degrees in England during your first year you will study core modules like contract, criminal equities and trusts/land law, eu law/public law etc....in Sheffield you can choose from a list of mandatory modules for your second year. not sure about other universities though however a lot of my friends on law degrees don't get a choice in this year either.
This information is on Manchester uni's website:

Lol I have seen that, but I was just wondering because on My Manchester it keeps showing an option to choose my own modules

Oh, we had the same thing on my uni's internal website. You had to choose the mandatory courses online manually.
