I have this as a question "Evaluate the view that business success is a direct result of the characteristics of the entrepreneurs behind it" and have absolutely no clue how to write it so if someone could help I will be extremely grateful.

Think of some particular characteristics that some entrepreneurs have ie. money driven, ethically focused, caring, behave well under pressure etc. and link them to how a business may perform.

For money driven you could talk about how it is good to be on top of finances and seek to maximise profit- since that is often the main goal of a firm. But if the CEO/manager of a company is too money driven, it can lead to them making choices based on the short term effects and they will ignore the long run effects. This could lead to the business actually losing money/ being inefficient etc.

Use examples and make sure to evaluate - so explain both sides and limitations of each characteristic.

I think this is worth considering OP. Ultimately the leaders of a business shape it's culture and facilitate it's way of doing business. From Corporate Social Responsibility through to the importance placed on client satisfaction.

Ultimately, if you have a leader (or group of leaders) who is focused on end user satisfaction (Boots), or efficiency and cutting costs (ALDI) - or similar - this will determine the success (or failure) of a business. So long as the company has clear objectives (based on these characteristics) that is.
