To anyone taking IB, how do you find it and is it worth the extra effort as opposed to A-level?

It depends on what you want to do and what you enjoy. Have a good read about the program and then make up your mind.

I'm in my second year in the IB and nearly there (6 more months) and I can definitely tell you that it is harder than A-Levels. No doubt whatsoever.
3 subjects < 6 subjects. Some A-Level students claim that they learn subjects in more depths which is not true. I'm studying at a school that predominately teaches A-Levels and believe me, they study pretty much the same stuff; at HL in IB you go so much deeper into the subjects than at A-Levels. SL is sometimes only a little less deep than A-Level subjects.
Personally, I find that the IB does take a lot of effort and time. If you really want to do it be ready for long nights, coffee and bad mood for about 2 years. Nevertheless, it's worth it.

I've never done A-level or any CIE qualifications, I'm a full IB student PYP to MYP to DP (4 more months YAY!) , but its very challenging, whether or not it is worth the extra effort, it depends on what you're looking for in the future, I've apparently heard that IB students tend to have an easier first year in university than most A-level kids, plus the graduates from my school always say that first year was easier than IB. I personally think that it depends how much you're willing to put in to see the benefits of your work, if you give it your all then yeah, I'd say its worth it but if you don't it could just swallow you whole.

I've been doing the IB for the past three months and I really enjoy it. There have been some challenging moments, some not. But it is nice to have a range of subjects to do than just 3/4.
