Hebrews 13:16 says "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." (NIV). My college has a leadership program where part of the completion of the program requires us to go and help other schools and less fortunate kids. I genuinely want to do this but my college has set it at such an inconvenient time on my academic timetable (I have two free study periods that i use to do the work i need to do to get ahead of my studies and fill any gaps, but the program requires me to use these study periods to go out and help these children. I don't have enough time at school to do the work i need to do and adding this to the set of things i'm already behind on makes it difficult to cope with) that with the state of my grades and the amount of work i need to do, i don't have enough time to do this to.

I guess with such an ultimatum, helping these children is the very idea of sacrifice, but is it wrong for me to set priority on getting the grades i need to get into the university i want to and postpone visiting these children to a later time, (i.e. after i finish my exams in July) does it conform to the very notion of loving your neighbor as you love yourself?

i am christian and let me tell you, being christian is actually a great thing. we have beautiful people and we have ugly people. just like any race. I for 1 am a great person, have great friends, and i take care of every one that is in my life and i am glad to do it, and for that i have people that love me around me. also, christian parents are one of the best parents you can have. sometimes they can be really strict, but they will take care of you no matter what, and they will buy you what ever it is that you need. as long as your not a selfish ****head. Also, we all have great jobs, lots of money and a family that we all love and take care off.

I think you need to free yourself from legalism otherwise, knowing God will bring you a 'heavy yoke' of burden. You can do good in your every day life just by being kind and generous to those around you, that is sharing the love of God.
