I've only attended some welcome/introductory lectures and seminars so far so I haven't really socialized, I live at home because I only live 30 minutes from the university so I'm not in halls, the thing that worries me is most people I see walking about have someone to talk to already.
tomorrow is when societies etc. will be starting so I hope I can sign up to some of those and make friends out of that and I don't start classes officially until next week, what do I do? just wait it out and will it be easy to socialize then?
thanks so much for the advice

There have been plenty of threads abut people in this position.
Because you are at home you dont have that opportunity of sharing a place 24/7 with many people and thats where thye make friends.
If you need/ want friends then look at:
Talking and socialising with course mates. You will be split into tutorial groups as well, so you will ahve things in common. Make an effort. Go for a coffee or soemthing to eat with them.
Join societies you are interested in.
You will be fine if you make the effort rather than get withdrawn and expect people to come to you. If you talk with one then tag along with others and form your onw group. You cold start a society for those living at home and wnating to make friends, there will be plenty in exactly your position.
