Hi, so I am a student in Belfast but from England which means that if I get a job I will want most of the christmas holiday off because it is the only time I can really go home. I am a bit apprehensive about applying for a job because employers may not take me on due to needing this time off. Any advice?

It's worth applying anyway, because you won't get any job if you don't. Just make it clear well in advance that you want some time off around Christmas so that they have the time to make arrangements. They usually ask in interviews if you have any holidays planned, so you can mention it then

Ah okay, thanks. I will definitely apply, but it just suddenly hit me that I would need time off during the busiest season!

I guess give it a go and still apply but make sure you're not applying for a christmas temp job as they can be funny about it.. also some places don't allow holidays at all during Christmas. I know where I work (Primark) I had to write a letter to my floor manager asking for special circumstances just to get time off at christmas =/
