I'm optimistic although it will be hard work coming from my background.

Don't give up before the race has already started.

Surely it depends on what job you get and not on your background?

Yes, but some people I know have had help from parent paying off some of their fees or living expenses so their overall bill is lower,

There are other factors as well such as many graduates living at home to cost save, something I can't do etc.

I'm not complaining about it. It just makes me strive to get that good paying job.

Nope! I'll have about £55,000 of debt when I graduate and will probably be on low paying jobs for many years afterwards by which time interest will probably have pushed that to well over £60,000. Not a chance.

Was speaking to someone who gave a speech at my school (from department of education I think) and he said most people will never be able to pay it off due to interest. He also said that there's now an argument to view it as a tax rather than a loan, as it acts more like a tax.
