I've just sold a textbook through ebay, but I didn't know I had to buy a postage label through ebay - however I went to the post office and sent it myself. I called up ebay but they weren't much help. Would I still get my money, and would ebay know i sent the item?

You really don't need to buy a postage label via eBay. Send it using whatever courier you want (ie: RoyalMail, myhermes, TNT, FedEx etc... ) Remember that unless you have the item tracked, you won't have proof that it was sent. This could mean that an unscrupulous person may try to scam you (as you have no proof)If you've paid for a signed for service, then you're all cool
