Conveying interest in personal statement

Alright, I'm applying for chemistry this year. My predicted grades aren't the best (BCC, C in chemistry) so it all hinges on my references and personal statement, however I can't seem to express any genuine like for the subject, despite me really enjoying it. I like all of it really, (except for enthalpy, that ****er) especially the organic mechanisms bit, but I have no idea how to drag out saying how much I like it to 4000 characters. Help, please.

To express your interest, you need to talk about things you've done. If you haven't done anything outside of school relating to your university course, do you really have a genuine interest in it?
