When driving do you prefer to use a manual or an automatic gearbox and why?!

I prefer a manual because it's more fun and allows you to experience the full potential of your car!
Plus you can change gears when you want to!

    What about you guys?

I like manual for the reasons you've said (I learnt to drive in a manual and did my test in a manual), but automatic just feels so... easy... It can be nice to not have to be thinking about gears! But conversely, if I'm going at something like 27mph and the automatic transmission is still keeping me in second gear, THAT can be very annoying because in a manual I would have gone up to third by that point and saved myself a bit of petrol!

Used to drive manual, switched to auto. Never going back to manual again if I can help it.A godsend if you live in a trafficky area like I do. If you wanna mess around switching gears and stuff then most automatics allow you to take control of the gears by taking it out of Drive.

A modern day automatic is only going to keep you in 3rd at that speed is if you're accelerating quite harshly. Most recent automatics change gears more fuel-efficiently than most drivers ever could.
