I'm applying to university for 2017, It may be early in terms of student finances, since I haven't even sent of my UCAS Application yet but I just don't seem to understand how it will work out?
Firstly, I'm thinking about moving to Leicester, and I was just looking around the accommodation, and I bumped into this site (https://www.prodigy-living.co.uk/) and it looks impressive as well as that I was comparing prices, to the ensuite bedrooms at the leicester accomodation, and these look much better, as well as that it seems to have better features e.g. "Up to 100mb WI-FI" and all of this for a lower price? Is there any catch to this or any disadvantages?
E.g. The price for a Bronze En-suite bedroom for 43 weeks is £5031, or each weak £117. The price for a En-suite bedroom I'm interested in a Leicester called Bowder Court is £5814.90 for 39 weeks which is £149.10 each week.
I just would like if anyone has been a resident at Grosvenor House or even at any housing by Prodigy Living would like to share?
As well as that, I would like to understand the student finances a bit better. At the moment I know that the tuition fees are at £9000 which is paid back after university when you're earning £21000+ as 9% each month. I used the maintenance loan calculator to estimate how much I would receive, and It was at the cap at £8200 as well as a maintenance grant most likely towards the highest due to household income. I was wondering how often would I receive the payments, is there other factors which would affect the maintenance loan/grant. As well as how would you have to pay for the accommodation, would they automatically take it out before it gets to you, do you have to pay it? Will it always be in time for you to pay for the accommodation? Also how do you pay back the maintenance loan, is it included in the 9% they take back each month from the student loan?
Is it really that intense? Would I cope?
