Friends

Please don't take this off anonymous. I really have friends who use this site and I don't want them to read what I'm writing...just close it if you want. Don't take me off anon!

I feel awful.

I'm 17 and a normal guy. All throughout my life I've noticed I'm an introvert. I prefer to be alone then going out with friends. Since year 7, I've been saying "no" to everything my schoolfriends want to do. I used to rarely go out and just preferred being alone with my family or playing games, reading books, watching tv etc.

However. Since sixth form has started (last year), I've noticed that people in school don't really want to speak to me unless I go out and stuff. So I made a tight group of friends and forced myself to go out with them.

Now I've noticed these people don't really like me. Well the guy I'm closest to has become really strange. It seems they only invite me to make up the numbers and they don't really seem to like me. However, I can't say no anymore! I get so bored at home and just want to go out. So whenever my mates call, I always say "yes" and head out.

Its awful though, because sometimes I say "no" and because its me the guy will simply say "ok" and hang up. Whereas with other friends he'll try and convince them and say "but ohh it'll be so much fun"

Makes me feel pretty worthless. I want to become my old self again. An introvert. I don't want to go out but it seems that if I say "no" more then once, I'll end up never ever getting invited in the future.

So confused :frown: I find it hard making close friends because my school is so elitist and everybody has their little groups which make it pretty difficult to make casual friends who will invite you out now and again like it used to be.

Have you tried making friends outside of school?
School isn't the be all and end all.

Sites like Myspace & that can help you make new friends.

They don't really sound like nice people, if you don't wanna make friends outside of school then find things to occupy yourself at home. Instead of going out use the money to buy somthing like a game or whatever you're interested in.
