Im studying Criminology with Psychology (first year) at uni and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some books that helped them with the course or any that people are reading that they find helpful?

Newburn has written extensively on the subject and is used by a lot of my students. I also use the following when helping undergrads

    Carrabine et al 3rd edition
Criminal Justice by Sanders et al
Criminal Justice by Davies et al
Reiner has a new book simply called crime, but not for 1st year
    50 Key thinkers
    The Sage Dictionary of Crime.

These are all good books but your first book should be the Newburn one.

Due to cost I also suggest looking at buying used books.
