AS Chemistry - Dative Covalent Bonding???

    • Thread Starter

I'm really struggling on this topic! I don't understand how I'm supposed to know which electrons are donated or which atom is the donating one? Also, every time I have to draw a dot and cross diagram of something like Al2Cl6, I draw it differently than everyone else in my class? Is there some sort of method to drawing dot and cross diagrams? Also, why is hydrogen the one being donated to in NH4+, and in H3O+. How do I know which one is the donating or not? Please help, this is soooo difficult x_x

Sorry you've not had any responses about this. Are you sure you've posted in the right place? Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there.

Just quoting in Danny Dorito so she can move the thread if needed :wizard:
