Coursework moderation - lowered grade?

Has anybody's coursework been knocked down by a grade or more after being moderated? Either at AS or A2? Just something that's concerning me, as I relied heavily on my coursework A's.

Umm last year at my school the whole psychology class had their cw grades come down by a lot....which is a joke as my psych teachers marking is strict and accurate!-She even went on a course abt cw marking and the chief marker asked her how come she was there! And the my teacher said well YOU DID MARK DOWN MY COURSEWORK....so hopefully they'll leave well alone this year.

Last year one of my classes had our coursework marked down because the other class for the same subject and the people in the year above did worse than us :s-smilie:

Or at least apparently that's the case

Not sure how much it went down by though

It happens more than you would think. I've heard numerous horror stories about the moderation process :frown:

Oh great, another thing I have to worry about.

After not-so-good exams, I'm relying quite heavily on my physics coursework, and if that gets marked down, then...

It would be unlucky if it happened to you but there is every possibility that your coursework mark will change. There is no guarantee that it will stay the same. The exam board reserves that right. If the moderator finds that the marks awarded by your teacher are inconsistent and not in line with the agreed standard, your whole class's marks may have to be adjusted.

Ah ****. Well, I'm now thoroughly convinced that I'm not going to Uni this year - no real insurance and no desire at all to go through Clearing or to any other university.

I really did lean heavily on my A's. If they change, I'll be so screwed, it won't even be funny. Maybe I'll just stop coming on TSR so that when I get BBD, nobody will even remember that I tried. :'(

What I was referring to earlier was that it's quite common for the marks to go down by a little bit. But I don't think it's as common for your coursework to drop a grade. I might be wrong though :wink:

I know my English Lang coursework was modeated but no idea if it altered or not...I got mid As anyway.

The whole of 2 classes of GCSE Applied science CW was marked down! As the course consisted of 2/3 CW this was not good, and out of 50 people no one gained above a double E. I achieved a FF yet I was told my CW was A standard and I should come out with a AA/BB

School ****ed up big time!

Mine I am (still - after a whole year) very bitter about: French dropped a whole grade, nearly two. Biology: but U3 (combined with Transport) went down to a mid-C, though predicted a strong B / A. Exam was apparently fine...script was requested back...which means that my coursework was really dire.
And I'm actually carrying that (unknown) coursework mark forward this year...

My computing coursework last year went from a high B to a C. This year I think my teacher was too scared to tell me what I got incase it was moderated again, I got it out of him in the end though.

I'm worried about my geography coursework this year because its one thats entirely marked my the exam board not just moderated and none of my class got any decent feedback about it from our teacher other than "thats fine".

for media studies last year, my coursework got marked up by about 12 marks. That gave me 120/120 :smile:

my teacher told me that my actual mark after he marked it was 105 our of 120 for ICT and when i got the result it had gone down to 102 so ya i still got A but it did go down
