Alternative Dispute Resolutions - Any deposit success stories?

I had a dodgy landlord for my house last year, who tried keeping the deposit for 2.5 months until we threatened to take it to ADR.

They then only paid half back (knocked off ~£500) without telling us why. Again, I requested breakdown of deductions with threat to go to ADR if not provided. Landlord sent excel document with breakdown - was all stupid things, including problems with the house that were present before we even moved in.

We've just raised the dispute today and as its the first time we've done this, I was just wondering if anyone here has raised a dispute and been successful in getting their money back? We're all pretty nervous about what's going to happen.
