What is it with wasps and their ear fetishes!?!?

Ok, dunno whether they are flies, wasps or even bees but don't you hate those stupid black flying things! So small and yet so noisy! Most of the time when they are around, I can hear them buzzing really loudly around my ear. I'm easily awoken by them in the morning as well and can't sleep unless I cover my earholes by listening to my Minidisc or cover my head with the bed covers! Do they often get into people's ears as I have heard stories about many people having bugs go inside their ears. Hmm....maybe they want to go inside into my brain and suck out all my intelligence......

I've only been stung once, that was by a wasp in my ear.

i once got stung in the lower back region by a damn wasp
I'm not really afraid of bugs though. Stick me in a room full of flies and wasps anytime and I wouldn't be scared.....as long as my nostrils and earholes are covered.

I never really get many flies going around my ears. I've never even been stung by a wasp yet and do not intend to! Never know if I may be allergic to them somehow. Thing is I do get alot of annoying little flies during the early hours of the morning especially when my window is open. Keep trying to land on my face at times and never know if I get any nat-bites (spelling?). And seeing as its summer I can tell I aint going to get much sleep cause of the little buzzing buggers!

slightly off topic but still concerns wasps etc:

I have many...well a few nightmarish senarios i experienced. Concequently...and understandably I soon became serverly terrified of wasps/bees/most other things with black and yellow stripes

1) Until I was about 6, the family behind our house owned beehives and we have (although i dont remember it) a picture out of our window of thousands of bees swarming around our house

2) When i was about 7 i was stung on the arm (as are many people)

3) When i was about 8 a wasp flew up my shorts and i could feel it buzzing in places you would rather it wouldnt...i escaped its sting though luckily.

4) When i was ~13 a wasp landed on my nose, i froze and feebly muttered "help" (pretty funny in hindsight)

5) Again when i was 13, a friend persuaded me to go with him and lob a stone at a wasps nest, then make our escape on bikes. there was a swarm chasing us down the street!!

6) at 15 a wasp flew up my shirt, stung me, and then persisted to fly back and forth. I thought i had frozen, but i was later told it looked like i was dancing to the funky chicken

sounds like the old song "When i was 17..."
Well, for the past 2 nights, I haven't been able to sleep until sometime after 5am. Spent like half an hour armed with my 'paper bat' ready for some serious wasp smashing. I got one the other night and it made some blood stain on my ceiling, hence why I hate squashing bugs against surfaces and prefer to trap them with a tissue before squashing them. I also had to go to sleep last night with my earphones still in my ears.

Do they excrete?

lol, perhaps ive lost the plot but even if they do, what does that mean? I suppose if they were trying to absorb his intelligence he could indulge on their faeces to try and reclaim it. Then again he may just fill up his mind with all the crap he thouight hed forgotten (crap - get it? )

that was a bad joke, sorry
I dunno, maybe it's just that they are so damn loud and I have good hearing, so much that it sounds like they are really hovering over my ear.

Unfortunately, she died a few years ago. :frown:

earwax.
Sticking earphones in seems to be an effective protection; if not exactly comfortable.
I hate them too. The worst noise are mosquitoes. My aunt was hanging out clothes on the washing line and a wasp flew into her ear. It went quite deep down so she couldnt get it out. She had to get it syringed out but she couldnt get an appointment until the next day. So she had to sleep with it in and it was still alive and buzzing. *Shudders*
