How big is too big to wear a bikini...

Hi, this is a general question for both guys and girls I suppose, what do you think?

I've been trying to muster up the courage to wear a bikini over the past year or something on the various holidays I've been on, but I always opt out and go for a tankini, which isn't particularly flattering to my shape, and really support 'things' at all... but it covers things up :p:

I am a size 12, not particularly flabby, my stomach is pretty flat, it's just being surrounded by size 8 girls (one of them being my sister!) running around looking amazing in their bikinis, doesn't exactly give me the self confidence to wear one myself... :frown:

size 12 is a perfect size for a bikini much better than size zero. If you feel comfortable in a bikini then go for it! xxx

I think that confidence helps a lot- if you don't feel comfortable wearing one then I'd suggest finding something else, as you're discomfort will show.

i would think it's all to do with your confidence and that people carry their weight differently, i'm a 12 too but i wouldn't dare wear one! i'm sure you look fine :biggrin:

to be honest, it's not so much about size, but about body quality.

you could be a size 16 with a toned, firm and sculpted body and look great in a bikini, or a size 6 who's pasty and flabby and wobbly and look less than great.

you sound like you'd look good in one - size 12 is a good medium size, and you say you're not flabby and you have boobs, so i think you'd look great! kelly brook is a size 12 and looks, well, better than pretty much anyone else in a bikini so wear one and have fun! you'd probably feel more comfortable in one than you do in a tankini anyway, as you say you don't look that good in a tankini so probs don't feel that comfy.

being a size 12 doesn't mean you have curves - i'm 5'8 and a size 10/12, yet when it comes to bikinis i have to wear either a 10 or (my least favourite size combo) a 12 on bottom and 8 on top :s-smilie:

not everyone who's a size 12 is blessed with boobies, sadly :bawling:

I didn't say a 12 automatically has curves. I meant the curves look nice if you have them :p:

I can sympathize with you on sizing. Bikinis are always combos for me. 8 top. 10 bottom usually but it suck finding matching sets :s-smilie:

Just wear it, the only time people will notice your faults on a beach are if you are sunbathing in long black tops and trousers. Whenever I see a bigger girl on the beach in a bikini I just think 'wow, good on her'!

Size 12 is far from being too big to wear a bikini,
In my opinion size 12 is around the perfect size as someone who doesnt like seeing girls ribs :frown:
