Quick question for guys and lesbians:

What is it like using a dental dam for cunninglingus? To what extent does it diminish the experience?

In reality, hardly anyone uses them for that. They were pushed at lesbians in the 1980s on the basis that in terms of HIV risk, giving cunnilingus was the riskiest thing they did.

    Three things happened:

    1. It was realised that the HIV risk was basically nil.
    2. Doing so concealed the real risks: lesbian-identified women having unprotected sex with (often gay) men and IV drug use.
    3. They do take away lots of the good things about doing it, including the taste, the tactile sensation and much of the smell.

Thanks. So is unprotected cunnilingus fairly low risk? I thought there was supposed to be a risk of contracting some nasty viruses but I don't know how big that risk.

You won't get HIV from it, even if she's on her period.

You could possibly get HSV, but you probably already have at least one of the two strains. (Ever had a cold sore? You have it.)

I'd use them (actually clingfilm) if I was licking someone's bum, but not for this. Your feelings around acceptable risk may vary.
