Extended Essay in English HL - Lord of the Flies and The Coral Island

So it's the summer holidays and I'd like to get started on my Extended Essay and just get a decent draft done.

I've chosen to do it in English and on Lord of the Flies by William Golding and The Coral Island by R. M. Ballantyne - but I can't for the life of me come up with a decent title.

There's loads to write about, it's not that that is lacking, it's just what too write about. I was thinking about an extensive "compare and contrast" essay but that is probably far too general or is it?

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!! :smile:

Are you English A1HL?
If you are, isn't Lord of the Flies too easy for an extended essay?
We did English A1 HL as well, and we did that book in gr. 10.
The book is too simple for a really profound EE I think.

I'm English A1HL but my English teacher didn't say anything about it being too easy, and she's pretty experienced within the IB.

Well I guess you should always trust your own teacher.

It's just that my teacher said something about Lord of the Flies being too short and simple for profound analysis (at least profoud enough to impress the markers). And yeah, my teacher is an IB machine lol. Our class average for English A1 HL this year was like 6.2 or something like that.

im doing lord of the flies for my gcse english lit ....in like two weeks ahhh i havnt really focused on lord of the flies that much i hav loads of notes but when it comes to a question im not that good at analyzing and thinking about good sentences of the top of my head........i sort of panic :frown:

i use the P.E.E rule which obviously you need for the marks. If i do an essay like a past paper question for hw i usualy get gd grades but it would hav took me about 2 days to complete the essay which is only suppose to be complete in 50mins in the exam! ...............the worst thing about english tests is managing your time .im completely hopeless. I hope to get a Jack question or the signal fire although it doesnt matter as whatever question you answer you have to inlude all the themes and hav points on other characters anyway :s

I hate english lit i wish id started focusing on methods and how to create a good argument ages ago! :frown:

id love a B i never get C's .and i dont want one because of english lit!
