I'm lonely at freshers- and it's not cause I'm shy or unsociable, it's because all my flatmates are. All I wanna do is go out and drink and have fun (as most students do), but my flat doesn't do that and I'm struggling to find people to do it with. I can hear everyone outside in surrounding flats playing music and drinking and laughing and I'm in bed wishing I was there with them... also as I'm a very social person I get lonely very quickly when left alone. I don't quite have the balls to just go up to a flat alone and ask to be let in so what should I do?

If you can't approach them on your own, maybe you can make friends another way (eg a sport or someone on your course) and then get in on their nightlife?

    Hello,

If you can't encourage your flatmates to join you for a night out try socialising with the other flats and people from the surrounding area - they'll take you in and you'll be able to make friends with these people.
Try not to panic yourself - it is about taking a plunge and approaching these people. Just give it ago! Or just talking to people on Facebook through Facebook groups.

    Good luck!
