English Baccalaureate (EBacc) compulsory to current Year 8 pupils and below?

    In June 2015, we announced our intention that all pupils who start year 7 in September 2015 take the EBacc subjects when they reach their GCSEs in 2020.

    So the current year 8's and below have to take these at option time:

    The EBacc is made up of:
    English
    mathematics
    history or geography
    the sciences
    a language

    Why is that a bad thing? A large amount of people that have taken a language, now regret it, as it is far different to any other subject, in terms of structure and content.

    Misread it as:
