Stay away from cliches. You have not always wanted to be a doctor since you burnt a hole in your pyjamas.

As mentioned already, avoid cliches such as 'I've wanted to be a doctor since the day I was born'. Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to become a doctor - you need to think hard what that moment for you might have been. For instance, have you been to a lecture or done a project that first planted the seeds? Everyone's 'light bulb moment' is unique and if you can articulate this in your PS, you're onto something good .

There are books with examples and things to avoid - there's one I've got called Get into medical school - write the perfect personal statement. It's full of real examples of personal statements that got interviews and it tells you where the applicant was successful getting an interview too.

I'd recommend it if you're struggling where to begin
