Dropping out of year abroad

I've been on my year abroad (optional - not like a language degree) for just over a month now and can honestly say it's been the worst experience of my life. The quality of the teaching is appalling, the uni doesn't offer accommodation and so I've had to privately rent - and the only thing i can afford is an illegal sublet of a storage unit underground. I was wondering what the repercussions of dropping out would be, and if i dropped out if i'd be able to continue my degree?
