Probably the boss... this happens all over the place and not just in McDonalds. Does your boss do the counting? If so, do it yourself first to be sure that they aren't the culprit.

Thats what I thought becuase the c** keep dropping money all around, I try to be the one that counts my till at the end but she wont let me....suprising this is the same boss that doesn't give me breaks....what do I do now am £12in the hole and she is always counting my till.

Sounds pretty unfair, is she the overrall store manager or like one of the section managers (whatever they're called) ?

Reply 4

Yep you're being ripped off then. I hate to tell you this, but it will happen three or four times more and you'll probably lose your job as a thief to cover up for them. All I can suggest is going over their heads to regional management or something and hope they send in some auditors, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

when i worked for them you counted your till WITH the boss...

Oh my lord....I have to be wary of everyone then? I remember I was in the staff room looking glum and a nice lady who has been there for years said to me watch the employees becuase she has lost loads of her money inside mcdonalds and not from the till....I don't know what to do I can't excuse anyone of stealing as I am new, and I can;t count my own till becuase mangers won't let me and as soon as my back is turned and doing another order I am accused as slow and someone else is using my till to do an order....
As soon as I get my a level results I am giving in my notice am going to uni in sept 23rd so I can rough it out a few more weeks....it just aint fair,...........I wouldn't probably be complaining if it was a nice round tenner becuase fair enough i could of acciently taken that out and over paid a customer....but £12? after a prefect record? i think not...

They'll dock your wages I'd imagine, happened to my mate.

Reply 9

Yeah my friend says at the one where he works any money under comes directly out of your wages.

Reply 10

just got called by store manasger who asked me to work 8.30 on sunday instead of 10.am...asked him about my till being down and he didn't even know....basturd.

Reply 11

Great 12 frickin pounds from my wages and I am going to be seen as a theif....my store manager thinks am an idiot becuase I was talking to me on the phone he was asking about something different and was talking to me like i was some sort of idiot for asking about £12 ..just recieved a lectur saying" you should of asked your store manager before you left"...

Reply 12

It could have just been a mistake by the manager. I know that a couple of weeks ago my manager was counting the money out of my til and it was £10 down. She counted it again just to be sure and she had missed a 10 pound note so my till was ok.

If it is a large amunt like that again, maybe just ask for a recount.

That is a good point but with the whole not being allowed a break thing it sounds as if the OP is being victimised a bit to me.

Make sure your till isnt up £12 the next day - if it is then you can be sure its your managers fault for counting it wrongly - I bet they dont tell you if your till is up do they?

Reply 15

On your last day make sure you pour a mcflurry all over your manager's head.

Tbh if I was you I'd stand up for myself a bit more, if your contract says you get x amount of breaks, make sure you get them, and do not let them dock your ages just because your till is down.

Make sure you count your float at the start of your shift before you take any orders and make sure you witness your till being cashed up. Make sure your till is locked when you go on a break or to do a cleaning job. Note the order number and you know it has been used or opened if the order number has changed. Then the manager is legally in charge for it and not you.

Just a few things to help you in the future. If your manager does not let you witness cashing up or let you have time to count your float before you take your first order, then they are responsible for that till LEGALLY.

Mean manager wasn't working today, and when she saw it was £12 down she recounted the notes but not the coins....which she kept dropping like she was holding AIDS:mad:
the other managers are either nice or fair, finally got break today:smile: but she will be back next week....just going to rough it becuase come end of spetmber I am OUT of there.
But I was placed on grill alll; day today do you think it was becuase of the till thing?:frown: I aksed employees older than me and they said once in a while there till was down.
